Cat quest review7/2/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If we’re being honest though, had I not needed to keep playing in order to give this review a fair chance, I would likely have stopped playing this game after the first mission. Once you hit around level 12 or so though-which really took a lot more repeats of the few lower-level caves available to you in the beginning than I would have liked-the gameplay starts to get a little smoother, your character starts to inflict a little more reasonable amounts of damage to your enemies, you have some more powerful upgrades to your weapons, and you have gained a healing magic spell, which really sets a more forward momentum to the gameplay. Singaporean developers released Cat Quest back in 2017, an adventure RPG with plenty of cute, funny felines: a lethal combination and sure-fire way to win. For the most part, it is just that universal, except for the fact that you have to seriously grind for a bit in the beginning to get enough experience and skills to start clearing the early dungeons and completing missions. Cat Quest is an open-world RPG set in the pawsome world of cats 100 Safe and Secure. For this review, I played Cat Quest on PlayStation 4, but the game is also available on Steam, iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch. The game then takes it one step further by having specific side-quest storylines that tie in with the various locations. Look for a feature piece on just this very topic, soon, as we speak with the Gentlebros about the journey from two-player cat dancing game to the award-winning 2D RPG we see, today. Cat Quest might not always hit its mark, but it’s a little game with a lot of heart. We’ve got a healthy helping of Easter eggs from TV shows to real life phenomena, with towns like Bermewda’s Triangle and landmarks like Twin Peaks, just to name a few. While searching for their sister, the player character discovers they are a Dragonblood, a cat with the rare ability to kill dragons. I play as a nameless cat who washes ashore on a continent called Felingard following a shipwreck. Cat Quest, on the surface, seems like one of those games that could be enjoyed just as much by a casual gamer as it could be by a hardcore RPG fan. Speaking of layers, Cat Quest is absolutely full of them. Cat Quest is a fast-paced action RPG set in a fantasy world rife with anthropomorphic felines and cat puns. ![]()
